Hi All,
Well - I almost made it through the CT inspection and registration process. I
won't go into a long story here, but will give you a hint. After waiting over
an hour I was told that I had a gray market car and DMV would provide me a
list of places authorized to upgrade the car to CT specs so I could have it
inspected and registered!! The rest of the day went pretty much down hill. I
knew the car was not gray - but they had no idea and almost wouldn't let me
explain anything to them. I felt like I was on trail and the judge had the
final say!!
I do have to replace the windshield and it has to be done by a licensed
repairer OR the whole car has to be reinspected. There is a local place that
I trust, but they have never seen a Pantera. They did look at the windshield
and without any hesitation said it looked like a routine installation. They
already found out when they ordered the new parts that there are 2 and 4
piece trim differences. I had told them I have 4 piece. I've also looked in
my Pantera repair and parts books and didn't see any special differences
between this windshield and any other car.
SO - if anyone knows of any special precautions that I can pass on to the
installer, as always, I'd appreciate any feedback you have. Even if you have
some secrets about installation that have been handed down from generation to
generation, please share them too. I have the only Pantera within about 50
miles of where I live so this place isn't going to become a windshield
replacement Mecca from anything I tell them!! Thanks. scruff (aka fran -
