Due to the unique way Ford engineers used in designing the 351C, running
without a thermostat (except in one case) WILL CAUSE OVERHEATING. There's
an-in-depth analysis of this in your Aug newsletter (in the mail), but
briefly, the warm-up passage built into the block's nose will bypass the
radiator with about 25% of the water going thru your block. And we haven't
got that much reserve cooling capacity in the Pantera. Maybe in a Mustang,
but not the P-car! The one case this is not true, is if you have the warm-up
passage blocked off OR if you run a Weiand aluminum racing waterpump that has
no bypass port machined in it. Cheers- J DeRyke
