Subject:Engine Cooling mod

Hello All,

After seeing Dennis Quella's cooling mod on his race car, I
decided to try it on my warm running street car.

The mod is to drill a small hole in the back of each head in
the upper portion of the water jacket. Tap to accept a pipe
thread to a 3/16 flare fitting. Using hard lines with
expansion loops or flex lines, connect the two head bleed
ports together and run to the boss on the swirl tank that
used to hold the temp sensor. If you have aftermarket tanks
you will have to weld a fitting into the hard line that goes
out of the swirl tank.

The concept is that on a std Cleveland a small amount of
steam is always generated in the heads due to poor flow.
This adds to system pressure and drives small amounts of
coolant out the overflow even in the best of conditions.

The results on my car have been dramatic. No overheats and I
haven't had to add coolant since I did the mod. That
includes 2 track days at Parump.

Keith Verges just had the heads off of his Blown Corvette
and reports that they have a similar system.

More later,
