thanks for the quick responses.

I'm prepared to deal with the problems of a 25 yr old car, having
dealt with a then-17 yr old '72 Mach 1. Getting that car respectful
was half the fun (and twice the money I expected).  

I suppose I can try to find a decent mid mileage car that hasn't been
fully sorted out. I think I'm looking at $20-25K for this(?).

Otherwise, I can wait longer (read: funds) and get a sorted car for,
what, around $30K? Seems that the car should have cooling upgrades
(factory-L or aftermarket), what else?  For $30K (if that amount is
right), what else should I expect the car to have had upgraded?
