Howdy all,
Before I purchased my 72 I called my ins.agent(Farmers) and the gal
quoted me $340/6mo.full coverage as a daily driver. That seemed
reasonable.
Now I've got the car so I called em back to kick in the coverage and all
of a sudden she has to "get back to me". She does with a quote of
$615/6mo.!!! She said it is a "high performance car" which necessitates
a surcharge.
I reminded her that I have 2 other vehicles,my house,boat,and a
snomobile I have faithfully been paying premiums on for the past 6 years
or so.I am 41,have no points against me,have made no "major" claims in
the past, drive less than 10 mi.to and from work, and qualify for every
discount in the book.I explained the car would "probably"sit in the
garage most of the time due to the weather we have here in the Seattle
area.
When she asked me how much it was worth I said blue book was $24,900 for
an avg.cond.car. I told her that it was in above avg. condition and
actual market replaccment cost would be about $28,000.Note: I think this
is high but I didn't want to cut myself short considering the
appreciation which could occur in the future.Besides I'll probably have
that much if not more into it after making upgrades along the way.
She said she'd get back to me.
Well now she tells me it would cost $468/6mo. A little better...
So I told her I'd get back to her.
So here I am folks.I know this subject has been hashed over in the past
as I checked the archives, but hey, let's kick a dead horse one more time
please!
Is $936 a year for full coverage, unlimited miles a fair price?
How about this Haggerty co.? How much do they charge and for what
coverage?
Has anybody made a claim with them with good results?
Any other companies to be recommended?
Appreciate any words of wisdom from those that have been down this road
before I.
Thanks,enjoy'
Matt
