hi all,
mysterious (to me!) intermittent problem w/ my '72 pre-L :
every once in a while, for no apparent reason, the car starts to bog under
throttle. not as noticeable when you really stomp on it, but even then, it's
still there. seems to happen for a day or so, then, again for no apparent
reason, it's ok, for a couple weeks.
only once have i actually ever done something where i knew it was ok before, and
now it's not ok - there's a sharp uphill rite turn, merging onto route 15 from
route 28 at point-of-rocks, md. this last friday, i was in 2nd gear here, and
really blasted it, up to about 5k rpms, merging into ~50mph traffic, coming from
over the bridge over the potomac river, from va. everything was fine, but from
the point i slowed for a left turn, about a mile up the road, the car started
bogging, and continued thru the weekend. it actually sounds like something's
plugged-up. don't think it's the dizzy shear-pin - it start's-n-idles yust
fine, and, as i said, it's been an intermittent problem. i did notice, this
time 'round, that, when cold, the auto-choke does *not* come on. this car still
has the orig autolite carb. ign is accel electronic. upgrade is planned, but i
wanna do it all at once, & i'm not quite ready...
any help is greatly appreciated,
