| Subject: | What Carb? |
| Date: | Tue, 5 Oct 1999 12:23:18 -0400 |
Between the List Archives, the recent (on-going) thread on carbs, the Dan
Jones carb encyclopedia and Holley's Web site...I'm flooded.
#1537 is getting a new Edlebrock Performer intake and a new carb to replace
the stock pieces.
What carb do I choose? The heads are 4v quench. The cam is stock (as far as
I know). I've got Hall Big Bore headers and mufflers. I believe I need:
Vacuum secondaries, center-hung floats, electric choke, power valve
blow-out protection (?). Am I leaving anything off the ups & extras list?
Some say 600cfm. Others say 650. Some say 700 or more. 600 is too small,
700 is too big, etc. Throttle response and economy of 600...or power and
room to grow with 700+? Double pump? Dual feed? Are those dual ways of
saying the same thing?
My car will be street driven (I'm hoping). Open track, bigger cam, are
possible in the future. I'm looking for the right price/performance combo
for right now.
And I need a model number/part number so I can actually order the thing.
Thanks, in advance...
