Hi All,
When I purchased 03766 a few months ago it had Wilwood Superlites on it. One
of the rear calipers mysteriously started to leak just enough to get my
attention - you may remember my panic post to the forum. In any case, I made
some changes that I wanted to share. I replaced all the "square" o-rings.
Four per wheel at $32 total, all pucks, four per wheel at $128 total and all
pads, two per wheel at $112. This includes 3 day drop ship charges from
Wilwood to the CT man in the woods who did the work. Also turned the front
Wilwood rotors - the rears weren't bad so considering the work vs. return, I
left them alone. I think this is about the best $300 bucks I've spent for a
load of peace of mind!! From what I had done with them I also know the whole
job is relatively easy and you only need a couple of tools. There's no need
to split the calipers and mess with the crossover tube. 'Course you need to
keep things clean and refil/bleed, refill/bleed, refill/bleed, (unless you
have one of those magic bleeder machines). I had it done because my car was
already in the woods to have the radiator replaced and a four wheel
alignment. Now I remember what it was like to drive my other Pantera in 1974!!
I want to mention that the pads were recommended by Wilwood and they're
called "Cold Stoppers". They don't powder much, (if at all) and are not meant
for all out hot brake racing. If anyone wants more info I have the spec.
sheet. I'm a little reluctant to suggest part numbers since there are
different brake series, etc. I do know my caliper numbers and part numbers if
anyone wants them. I was also doing a little searching and found that Hawk
also has a brake pad for Superlites. They note it as low powder and designed
for street use.
Maybe I should come up with a disclaimer for my postings. Whenever I list
names or part numbers, it's only with the thought that I might help someone
else. I am not endorsing nor do I work for, or with any companies that
produce or sell parts. If anyone ever has any specific questions as to
whether I like services, parts or prices though, please feel free to email me
privately.
