| Subject: | Replaced Oil Pan Gasket and Found STUFF |
| Date: | Tue, 5 Oct 1999 20:09:17 -0400 |
Okay, I replaced the oil pan gasket and installed a new oil pump and I
found quite a bit of metal in the screen for the oil pump. There was one
piece of metal in the opil pan that was about a half inch long and looks
like a mail bearing. All the other pieces are small. There is about a
jigger of metal. (You can tell what I did after the oil pan deal). I tried
to move the crank and each of the push rods. . Everything seemed tight.
What would happen if I keep running the engine (who knows how long it has
been this way) for a while. How much do you thing a rebuild on a 351
Windsor would cost? Can I just replace the bearing or should I do a
rebuild? The engine has over 100,000 miles on it.
Any comment or suggestions would be appreciated.
