If you do this, I'd recommend consulting the archives of the shop-talk
mailing list - there was a pretty extensive discussion of compressors and
noise there a while back.
The compressor generates a good bit of heat when it's working, and most
sound absorbing material actually converts the sound energy to heat to
absorb it... generating more heat. So if you're going to enclose the
compressor, make the enclosure large and/or ventilate it well.
