All,

The mAD oNE had asked me about the head stud kit I was doing in the
Goose.... I thought I was going to have the hot ticket here..... bought
the whippy dippy ARP "reduced size 12 pt. nut kit"... to avoid having to
remove the rocker arms (which are now adjusted....) in order to retorque
head bolts...

Well, tore into the motor last nite with this thought in mind, only to
discover that there is no way in Cleveland that this is going to happen....
must be the "other guys" that ARP is referring to.... certainly not on a
Boss or 351C head.... No matter WHAT you put in there... you WILL have to
remove rocker arms to retorque head gaskets.....

I checked the 5 accessable ones along the bottom edge and only one budged
even the slightest amount.... all the rest tripped the torque wrench....
I'd say that they're torqued just fine.... perhaps on another day.... when
I have reason to want to readjust all of my valves....

Thought youse would want to know this. There IS enuf room in a Goose to
install the studs AND the heads, so it should be fine for a Cleveland in a
Pantera. Studs only install in block hand tight.... so if you do have a
fitment issue, you can still put the studs in after the head goes on....

So, save thirty bucks or so, and just get the conventional stud kit if you
are so inclined.... all that's bigger is the physical size of the nuts....
and they are six points....

Steve
