I recently had the drain plug off my tank, and I can tell you that it's
some kind of metric fitting. It doesn't match american pipe thread, nor
is it AN. For the record, it does seem to be a pipe plug (tapered thread).

I never found a match for it (wanted to make an adapter). I wound up 
drilling the plug itself and tapping it for a smaller NPT fitting. This
was for a fuel injection conversion with a closed-circuit pressurized
fuel system. (Out the bottom of the tank, returned through the old
tank sender fitting in the top.)

Good luck finding a match.
