  I have an old  Mobil brochure which claims that Mobil 1 prevents mechanical
wear -- this was later dropped,  presumably to some lawyer's paranoia.
  I did some consulting for a company which specializes in the manufacture of
hydraulic lifters and other engine components, and the prevailing logic was
to break -in the engine with conventional oils to seat the rings, etc., and
then switch to Mobil 1 afterward. Regards, Al, #3915.
