Hi All:
Just preparing to get some work done on the engine at a future date. I
won't do any serious work until the rust demons have been exorcised. But
I thought it be a good idea to check out around for a good machine shop.
After several attempts, some folks lead me to this place:
http://www.4-lesco.com. It's only about 15 miles from my place (and soon
to come even closer to my address).
In any event, looks like they have LOT of experience with restoring
Vintage cars (of the Monterey Historic Variety). I was very impressed
and surprised that they did this type of work: in podunk Atascadero, CA
of all places! They also did some Shelby work. Well, I'm hooked. First
order of business is to get some 4V quench heads and have them do it.
Good news too: I found out that my engine had flat pistons (as opposed
to the lower dished pistons I found in my old 70 Mach 1). Additionally,
my block looks pretty good (with just a tad of ridge beginning to show
up).
In any event, that is about the size of it. Too bad I have open
chambered 4V heads. Oh well. Gotta get the quenchers some other time.
