I'm sure Tim will post all the times, but here is my report of
my first drag strip runs.
What a blast! Can't beat the amount of fun I got out of the
$10 I paid to run my car. The just the trill of staging up the
car to do a run against another car was great!
Ok, so I had to find other fun aspects about the races since
I didn't beat Brocks time. But I had a great time trying anyhow.
Even though Brock was running Hoosier drag tires and no
mufflers! Yeah, REAL stock Brock!
My first time wasn't so great, I burned-out all through 1st and
half of second. I guess I got a little excited! But, I was up
against a Mustang that totally pulled away at first, but once I
locked up in 2nd I was able to blow past him at the end. I got
a 13.768 to his 14.278.
The second run I tried to keep from spinning the wheels as much
and did manage to improve my time to 13.520. On this run I did
use the G-Tech, and it showed 13.47 vs. the 13.520. I'd have to
say that is pretty darn close. This is well within it's stated specs
of +/- 1/10 second. Now since I had gotten 13 on my G-Tech
meter before I expected to do better (as Crazy Dave can confirm).
But I was still spinning the tires too much.
On the third run (and my best of the day) I got 13.393. I still
spun the tires, but did get a much better start. For comparison,
the G-Tech this time was 13.38 (even closer!). This run was neat
since I was up against last years champ Alan Foster! AND I WON!
Ok, I'll admit that with his Hoosiers he jump off the start and did
1.888 vs. my 2.200 in the first 60ft. And after that his times down to
the 1/8 mile shows him pulling away a bit, but after that his car
started loosing gas I manage to past him up (his car was starving
of fuel before the end). But, I'll take the win! He got a 13.614 that run.
Now the fourth and last run was against none other that stock
Brock (Phhhht)! I've got to get some of those Hoosiers since they
must have come as original factory equipment! I again smoked the
tires big time off the line and only got a 13.555 vs. Brocks 13.216.
Now here's what I see happening here...
Distant / Time - Brock / Curt
60ft 1.995 / 2.392 (spread .397)
300ft 5.604 / 5.990 (spread .386)
1/8m 8.573 / 8.927 (spread .354)
1/4m 13.216 / 13.555 (spread .339)
The pattern I see here (Brock) after your "Hoosier" launch, and that
is the spread is narrowing! :~) I see a new grud drag in the works!

1TO9 MPG, Have I used the excuse that I need drag tires enough?
