All,
Just did a a search for tyres that would fit monster 18" wheels,
and unless anyone has more information, the results look grim.
It appears that the "desired" tyre diameter to look for (so as
to minimise speedo/odmeter error and the wheel-well filling "look")
is 25.5"-26". Most folk use BFG 305/50x15" which yields a tyre height
of exactly 27.0", so I'll use this as a baseline:
Size Diameter Error
--------------------------------
305/50x15" 27.0" 0%
335/35x18" 27.2" 0.8%
345/35x18" 27.5" 1.9%
345/30x18" 26.1" -3.2%
315/40x18" 27.9" 3.4%
305/40x18" 27.6" 2.2%
and I dont think we would want to go any narrower than a 305 tire.
Looking at tire rack.com. the ONLY tire that I could find in these
ranges was the Goodyear F1 Eagle, 315/40x18" at $363 each.
At this stage, it appears to me that there is a very limited
market for 18" wheels on the Pantera.
Furthermore, Marino Perna made a comment some months ago that 18"
Campy look-alikes will look too massive, and I agree with him.
However, I think 18" Group 4 repros from Wilkinson would work
just beaut!
Shane
