Hi Again:
Just wanted to continue with the discussion about the clearances to
utilize the 351M/400 in the Pantera. I just remembered some pretty
important info with regards to this. First off, it has been done! Goran
Malmberg (of Hemi-Pantera fame) sent me some pictures of what looked
like an SVO 460 installation into a Pantera (in Sweden, I guess). He
responded to my ad in the P.I. BB. Don't forget Ted Mitchell Vader or
Junior Wilson's monster. Those are big block shoe-horn-nees. I think
Mike Cook might have done something to that end too. But from
prospective, the linkage problem is not an issue.
Page 2. Running again into the garage, the big problem I saw was getting
past that left "ear" of the bellhousing casting in the engine. I
measured the distance between the pilot of the crank snout of the 351C
and essentially the same location on that 351M block I found. Both are
8.5". Between those "big block Panterapioneers" before me and the
measurements I just took, I conclude that there should be NO PROBLEMS
putting in a 351M/400 block into the Pantera.
