A friend of mine's '71 came originally equipped with Michelin XWX's in 185
and 215. My '74 came with Goodyear Arrivas, C-60/15 and H-60/15s.

The '71s came with 70 series VR rated tires. Mine had Pirelli (CN 72 ?). I
think they were 185/70 front and 215/70 on the rear but could be easily
wrong. I think most of the cars then came with Michelins. I believe these
continued until the Arivas (a belted bias tire) were introduced. Don't know
if they had a speed rating. I'm not sure when the speed rating started, but
it was about then, at least here in the states. My wife had a '70 (? anyway
one of the first) 240Zs and it had S rated tires.
