This reminds me.........We were going to share our stories about fun
drives and experiences we might have had during the holidays with our
beloved machines. I know some people already have told some stories but I
think there are a lot of others out there that have not.

I only had one chance to drive my Red '71 #2422 while on holiday.
But I took that opportunity and it was fun. Got up early morning, had
coffee, went out in the garage and fired up the "bitch" (One of my cars
nicknames...another one is "the filthy whore", but its a long story for that
one! I like my car, but it sure can piss you off sometimes, right?). Warmed
up a little and took off for the mountains in San Diego county. No one on
the road anywhere, so was able to enjoy some spirited driving through the
mountains unhampered for the most part by virtually anyone. Funny thing was
that while taking some sharp corners my feet got pins and needles like they
were falling asleep! You all know that weird feeling. Kind of scary at the
time, but fun nonetheless. I attributed it to the sinus congestion I had at
the time from a left over cold. One guy in a Toyota Camry or something
thought he was going to stay with me until I took a sharp corner at about
80mph. I watched rear view mirror as he nearly didn't make the corner at
all and could barely see his wife/girlfriend or whatever hitting him and
shouting moving her arms all about. Forgetting this very minor incident I
drove on rumbling along the mountain roads. But the R1's were sticking good
and car ran great with no mishaps. Got lots of thumbs up and hi signs, etc.
Made sure I pushed in the clutch and goosed the throttle at any Vette I saw
going in the opposite direction so as to annoy them a little bit. Life was
indeed good! Had a chance on a long straight (not so long actually, but
safe for passing in a Pantera)to pass 4 cars who had the audacity to only
drive 60-65 mph in a 55 mph zone. Woke 'em all up, that's for sure. Later
came around a corner and down a hill at about 75 mph towards a red light
that had two lanes one with two cars sitting waiting to go and the other
lane empty, the road crossing an intersection and then going up hill again
close to my home area, light changed green while I was still coming up on it
about 70 or so, so I took advantage and throttled it all the way up the hill
keeping it to about 95-100 through the sweeper type corner and on up, then
slowing down as I got closer to civilization again. Never did see those
cars from the light after that, and luckily no black and whites either! Got
the blood pumping and had a big smile on my face. Turned onto my street and
goosed the throttle while down shifting for the neighbors enjoyment as I
came down my street to my house.......as usual. I mean, afterall, I'm sure
the neighbors have grown accustomed to this exercise and outright expect
this kind of vulgar display, right?......Of course right! :-)

Anyway, that was my holiday fun run of about 2 hours plus. Anyone
have any other holiday runs to share? Mine was rather normal and
uneventful. How about yours????
