Agreed. The C&S that I had worked very well for me. It worked fine on
the street as well as on the track. And if I remember correctly, mine
flowed somewhere in the low to mid 900's. Can't swear for sure
though...
I'd also recommend it.
In case anyone is interested in gas mileage (Look here, boy! If y'all
got a car like this, you ain't worried about GAS mileage! Get a
bigger damned gas tank!) :-))))
I got about 9-10 in town driving to work and back (a tank lasted me a
week) and about 12-14 out on the highway cruising. On the track, that
easily dropped to 4-5...
The C&S carb was a bolt on and run affair with some rejetting later.
It came with 80's front and rear and I eventually went to 74's and
80's.
The 'Claw' that I tried was the biggest fiasco I've ever seen... Not
only did I have to make up new fuel line connections and throttle
cable changes, the engine would barely start and I could never get it
run right. In fact, I don't think I ever managed to get the rpm past
3500 after three days of fighting with it. Defective? Maybe.
It got returned to sender and replaced by the C&S. Bolted it on,
turned the key and DROVE it.
FWIW,
Kirby
