Tom,
You're on the right track. Prop the window glass open with a 2x4 block wedged into the upper, forward hole in the door frame.
With the arm disconnected from the bottom of the window, and the four bolts removed which secure the motor and gearbox to the inside of the door, it WILL come out through one of the holes on the bottom (the larger, rearmost one I think) although it requires a considerable amount of profanity. As I recall, we had the best luck when we ran the motor to almost the full-down position so the arm was sticking straight towards the back of the car...
Crazy Dave has successfully cracked the code on this job and I think even had digital photos showing the step-by-step sequence?
Every time I've done it (several different cars) I've struggled with it for 30 minutes and then suddenly been shocked to find the assembly sitting in my lap.
Getting it back in is another adventure...
Mike
