I just got off the phone with Marino. He has a source
for sonic block testers and would be willing to sell one
(or more, I suppose) to the club at his cost (around $900).
With all the concern over cylinder wall thickness, I think
it would be a great thing for the club to buy one and
make it available to members for a small rental fee.
It would work like this. When you rent the device from
the club, you hold it on your credit card. If you break it
or fail to return it, you agree to buy it or have it repaired.
It's a no risk deal for the club and could turn into a modest
money maker, depending upon the rental fee.
For many (most?) of us, there are no local shops that
have sonic testers. I've called around in St. Louis and
no one has one. I've talked with many others in other
parts of the country who are in the same situation.
Well, Mad Dog, what would it take to make this happen?
