Years ago I had a similar problem with a Lancia Beta HPE, it basically would
rev to redline in low gears but not in 4th or 5th and so had a top speed of
70 mph. I also spent plenty of time and money on carburation and ignition
I was young and poor at time) before realising it must have been valve
trouble. Never quite got to grips with it and sold the car on cheap...
