> Just sent a note to Dan- when I used sonic testers (maybe a different
type)in aerospace, I had problems with curved surfaces. We had to use lots
of silicone grease to 'couple' the sensor & surface together, since the
sensor was 1" dia x 3/4" thick and flat on the bottom. Also had trouble
getting reproducible results if the sensor was moved only slightly. Will we
get good instructions? Outside of this, I think its a great idea- 351Cs are
getting kinda scarce. I second Dan's idea & Vote Yes (conditionally)J DeRyke

RE: Sonic Tester
Just a thought, but perhaps rather than the club buying a piece of equipment
like a sonic tester, it might be better if a few of the members bought the
machine together outside of the club. This way, the club is not responsible
for the maintenance of the machine, not ever guilty of treating any members
unfairly, and basically just stays out of the middle of it. The owning
members could then decide who and when to rent the machine to, how much to
charge and so on. Just a thought.....
