Recently my driver's side (73 L) window lift started sounding like it has a
broken tooth...started slipping/chattering and the window needs to be
"helped" over the spot...and then starts working normally.
I have the service manuals and am pretty sure that I need to replace the gear
on top of the motor. I put the window all the way up, took off the door
panel, removed the four bolts holding the braket/armature/motor combination
to the interior side of the door, removed the slotted screw that holds the
armature to the window lift mechanism...
but can't get the braket/armature/motor combination through the cut-outs in
the door. Any secrets? Do I have to remove the window?
I can't get a wrench on the two nuts that hold the motor to the
bracket...which, when separated would allow me to probably work the bracket
out?
Thanks,
