I just put a  tilton starter in my pantera which was a Til-54-10018.  It was 
about $330.00  but well worth the money.  It has a .270 offset.  Which is 
what you need I believe for a ford Cleveland with a manual trans.  The 
starter pinion to ring gear clearance must be .100" + .040 when the pinion is 
in the relaxed position.  hope this helped
