Some, if not all, of the late model 302s use the 351 firing order. Comes from using a 351 Marine cam in the 1st 82 GT Mustangs.

Check the plug wiring (if you haven't already). 351C and 351W fire
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
FWIW 221/260/289/302/429/460 fire 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8.
