Unfortunately many "Peoples Choice" car shows are not all that free of "judging" problems either. Most "Peoples Choice" car shows which I have attended would be more accurately labels "Entrants Choice", since only the entrants get to vote, not the walk in spectators.
And any time you have just the entrants voting on the cars you will end up with at least some amount of local favoritism. Where the club with the most entrants (usually the organizing club) also wins the most trophies. The entrants will often times vote for their buddies cars, even if an "outsider" car is more worthy.

Hi Fred and Co:
I feel that probably the best types of shows to enter into are the
"People's Choice" competitions where the general public gets to choose.
I'd like to frequent the general public/out of the way shows in which
different cars from various walks of life enter their pride and joy
(regardless of mods). You don't hobnob with the snooty "concours" types in
which is next to impossible to get anything. Oh well. Just my .02/10000 of
a ruble. Cal. #2428.
