Dennis Quella tells me that some of the Pikes Peak racers he builds gearboxes for use Pantera driveshafts. In the course of the event, they actually TWIST like a pretzel without breaking. At some point, they remove them, swap 'em around, and continue running them, which then causes them to UN-twist....
As long as the U-joints are good, stock driveshafts are fine. But since you said that yours have been machined to the point of destruction, I wouldn't plan on using them.
