Rich,
I ran a Gano filter in the upper hose of my GT-350 for about a year. I kept
having problems with the damn thing popping off under high rpm (torque would
twist the motor and the thing would work its way out of the hose, despite
safety wire and silicone.)
Eventually I got sick of it and removed it. But you know what? I was amazed
to discover that thing was just full of crud, including some fairly large
ROCKS!!!! So it appears that it's effective at its job, although it would be
nice if it would stay on the damn car.
In a Pantera, were you to install it up front (where it wouldn't be subject
to torque) it might be an excellent safety device. When/if I ever drain my
coolant in the near future, I may slice open a hose and stick one in there...
