All,
I need your collective opinions as to the cause of the following;
If when starting out from a stop in the Pantera, I open the throttle
progressively and fully, it accelerates normally with only a hint of
stumble (hesitation) at higher RPMs. However, if I open the throttle
aggressively it will stumble badly and sometimes backfire thru the
exhaust. This happens when the car is fully warmed up. When it is cold
it doesn't seem to do this. Of course I'm not accelerating aggressively
when it's cold either.
The car is a 74 L with the stock 4300 Autolite carb.
Is this an accelerator pump, temporary over lean condition? or a weak
fuel pump? or what? Fuel lines are new and clean as well as the filter.
Once the stumbling subsides the engine pulls like a train thru all the
other gears with no hint of stumble.
What thinkest thou? or would that be thouse??
