Malfunctioning amp gauges have burned down several Panteras. Adding a shunt
between the terminals reduces the chance of fire, or Gary Hall sells a
modified gauge that supposedly eliminates fires. FYI, the entire output of
your alternator goes thru the gauge as stock; adding a shunt reduces the
voltage going thru but also reduces the needle deflection you get. Finally,
the central ground stud under the dash has caused some troubles like this. Be
sure the nut is tight and there is no corrosion on the terminals attached.
Good luck- J Deryke
