As usual, I had to work Saturday so I thought I'd
drive the little blue beast to the office. On the way
home I exited off the tollway and waited (somewhat
patiently) in line for the light to turn. All of a
sudden the green RAV4 in front of me put it in reverse
and then - you guessed it - boom. The 20 year old
girl back right in to me. I had started honking when
she started back but she neither heard nor saw me.
Result? Major hood ding on the front leading edge.
Since I believe this aluminum, I doubt it can be
repaired. I'm not a body expert, but the edge,
webbing and thin metal would all lead me to think its
history.
The car is driveable, but the ding looks like a huge
pimple in the middle of a supermodel's face. While no
beauty queen, the car DID look good from a few feet
away.
Luckily I've found a good hood (I believe) and had
already scheduled to put the car in for paint in
November. But the whole thing really irks me. Plus,
I get to deal with her insurance company, GEICO.
Lesson - look out for green RAV 4's. You never know
what they will do.
Downcast in Dallas,
S. Black
