Hello Everyone
I thought I would take a break from putting my ZF together and give a
report.
Over the last couple of days I have been collecting bits and parts. I have
most of the stainless parts for the outside of the box. There are a few
special bolts that I will turn on a lathe this weekend like bolt #115 with a
special end.
I finally decided to use a clear automotive paint over the bead blasted
Aluminum case. I found a special metal prep for aluminum called "Adherto
AP-01" from house of colors. It is supposed to prep the bare aluminum so a
clear coat will stick. I had purchased a powder coating unit to do my parts
but I decided that I didn't want to heat the aluminum parts to the 400
degrees that was required for the powder to flow out. This decision was
probably over kill but with John's new motor I didn't want to soften any
parts.
Right now I am installing the parts on the input shaft #229. I started with
the bearing #231 and have worked my way up to third gear #222.
This is the first transmission I have done ,so if you have done this before
and have any suggestions I would love to hear from you.
This is almost as fun as the Nascar tire burning victory spins I was doing
when I got this car.
Take care,
Nolan
