| Subject: | Radiator out-lots o' rust in the valence area |
| Date: | Fri, 7 Jul 2000 00:22:44 -0400 |
Hi all:
I guess Scott was in for another "beating" so I put him to work
(actually, he likes it as he wants to own a Pantera within a year). I
had him take the radiator out while inspected the valence/crossbrace for
rust. I wasn't a bit surprised. The area is trash as far as the
crossbrace is concerned. There was a hole in the rear metal plate of the
crossbrace just filled with nothing but rust. No matter. I expect to
start on this tomorrow and attempt to do the repairs on the crossbrace
and the valence. Both (I think) are salvageable. No, I don't want to
spend another $300 on sheetmetal when I have enough scrap to reconstruct
these guys and a good MIG welder to do the job. I'll take a good hard
look at Mike Dailey's web site but you can be sure that it has to be
done before proceeding furthur.
Also, as a result of my last foray with the rear suspension, I decided
to have that tool Fred Terry described in a PCNC letter to remove the
bushing from the a-arm. I should get a quote tomorrow but I'll be danged
if I'm going to do the old hacksaw and chisel routine. It's pretty hard
doing it that way.
Other than that, my upholstery is back. The two tone color I've chosen
looks simply smashing! I have to admit my color choices weren't too far
off the mark. Good comments from none P-car owners too. I'll let you
know on this later but it's mum for now. The dash is next. It will be
the same two tone scheme I've chosen to carry against the red I've
chosen.
So that's it for now. Cal #2428.
