Hello My Friends,
I'll try to keep this short - but remember, I can never give only my 2 cents
- I don't do anything for less than $2.00.
My 1972 Pre-L was passed on yesterday to a new and of course very proud
owner. You know the story - he saw one many years ago and a few years after
that drove one and has been dreaming of owning one ever since. He's a great
guy and although I never mentioned it before - he had to pass my "Pantera
Worthiness Test." There are no written rules - but if it's ever time to sell,
you'll know who you want yours to go to. I had almost 100 inquiries, but
since I live in CT, it was difficult to arrange a deal with anyone west of
the Mississippi. Of course there were the usual tire kickers, but even they
had a genuine interest and have their place in the process. Then there were a
couple of close offers that I just didn't feel comfortable with for a few
reasons, and in fact one offer for the full amount - but before the offer was
made - I "fired" that person! They were not "Pantera Worthy." Time went on
and I finally met the new owner. We agreed to a price and I could tell the
car was already in his soul and didn't want to let a small amount keep us
apart. He lives about 80 miles from me and came with his wife (who has to be
great) and van (for spare parts) and two beautiful children about 4 and 13.
They had other plans for the day - but gave in to dad this day so he could
have some fun too! He had already driven the car a couple of weeks ago so
after a quick trip around the parking lot, the caravan jumped right on Rt.
95. That was about 2PM. They had a two hour ride max. home and I asked that
he call when they got home with any immediate questions and so I'd know they
made it safely. He called about 10PM and said they got home fine and he
appreciated my warning about people "aiming" for the car as they drove past
on the highway! He unloaded the van - took his kids to a birthday party,
bought his wife some jewelry (just kidding about that part) and had been
driving ever since!
I plan to stay in POCA, PI and the forum since I'm still in love with the
Pantera. I'd like to thank one and all for any help I ever needed and wish
you all the best of everything in the future. Mostly I wish you and your
families, Good Health, Peace and Lots of Laughs. ruffscruff (aka fran dicarlo
