Subject:Question about Koni's
Date: Fri, 4 Aug 2000 02:07:04 -0400

This is a question for all of you that have Koni shocks...

I was poking around the front suspension of my car today, (wondering why my
front end sits higher than the back) when I noticed what appears to be
rubber spacers under the front coil springs. It is black rubber, doughnut
shaped, about 3/4 of an inch high, with a grooved top for the spring to fit
into. Under it appears to just be the flat metal attached to the bottom of
the shock.

Is this normal? Do all the Koni's have this? If not, what is supposed to
be there?

This ring does not 'look' right. it does not fit well and does not appear
to be original.

The rear shocks do not have this spacer, but they do have a thinner piece of
rubber that appears to be original.

Keep in mind: this is a very early, European pushbutton door car, #1223.
It has the red Koni shocks, not original as I understand it, but I have no
history to determine when they were put on. They appear to have been there
a while. It also should not have had the factory spacers since it was sold
in Europe.

So anyone who has been intimate with their Koni's (Cahones?... sorry)
lately, please let me know.

Gregg
