I don't have a pantera wiring diagram in front of me, so I am only talking
in generalities now:

A. You get rid of the amp meter by shorting it out. In other words, connect
the two leads to the amp meter together. (A perfect amp meter would have
zero resistance.)

B. You wire the negative lead of the volt meter to ground and connect the
positive lead of the volt meter to the positive lead of the battery.
However, since you don't have a perfect volt meter (which would have
infinite resistance), it is also necessary to wire the amp meter through the
ignition switch to prevent draining the battery when the engine is not
running. This will probably require you to add a relay controlled by the
ignition switch.

Subject: amp guage diconnect

i've just changed my guages to the white face vdo style. with the guages i
received a voltmeter in place of an ampmeter. my question is when i took out
the ampmeter i saw it had @ # 5 wire hooked to it.one wire was black the
other red. doesn't the power go thru the guage? if i get rid of the amp
guage
do i hook both large wires together or will i be doing the wrong thing?

                                                            thanks, jeff
