My guess is, under some conditions, fumes will come back out the PCV line. If the inlet is inside the air cleaner, the emissions don't increase. And in an air cleaner with an un-plugged filter element, there is no measurable negative pressure inside the unit. Just too many paths in... Cheers- J DeRyke
