Sure, Mark. Take the link out and weld it up, then re-bore the piece to std. 
Heat-treating wouldn't hurt, either. Remember, the original part is 28 years 
old and was likely NEVER lubed in spite of the steel-to-steel contact, so an 
occasional shot of lube would help a bunch. As long as you're going to this 
much trouble, take the whole thing out and repair all the links as req'd 
including the short shafts that may be worn. Good luck- J Deryke
