Charlie,
  Years ago, I installed a new set of Champions. The car ran very
poorly.
I put an ignition analyzer on the engine, and TWO of the eight plugs
turned out to be defective (non-conductive) right out of the box. Very
poor quality control, it appears.
  Never installed Champions again.  Al.
