Hello All,
I thought that I would post a Cal-like general update from the only track
oriented Pantera in the Dallas area.
It seems the most common change agent is a localized wave of stupidity.
When I got back from running with the Porsches at TWS over Labor Day weekend
I experienced one of those waves.
It was hotter than hell and I was tired from the drive back. I had opened
both doors on the Pantera so it could air out a bit before I drove it off of
the trailer. Where I parked, the trailer was a bit downhill.
It was at the exact moment that I released the second rear strap that I
realized I hadn't put the car in gear.
How did that go, you might ask? Not very well !!!
The car rolled up to the trailer box just hard enough to put a small but
very ugly divot in the center of the front of the hood. Many of you may
have had moments where you needed to quickly curse and expend a significant
amount of frustration energy. I turned, put both hands on the drivers door
and slammed it closed.
How did THAT work out, you might ask? NOT VERY WELL !!!
It seems that the moment that the door engaged the latch, the drivers window
exploded into the car. At least that expelled my frustration energy and
amazingly enough, didn't generate any more.
Anyway, as I looked up to see Robin giving me that look that your SO's give
you at times like this, I said "It's time to make it a race car."
Well I have big Lamb brakes, camber lock, bump steer, Hoosiers, PPC
coil-overs, a huge radiator, a smooth shifting ZF, Mind train rear uppers
with adjustable camber, high torque starter, hydraulic throw-out bearing,
Aussie block, Haltek F3, and assorted other goodies so I have a good start.
More later,
Jack Tunnell
