I watched AutoTrend on Speedvision last night, and the entire
show was devoted to testing 9 high-end sports cars on the
Ford test-track in Arizona.  The test is also covered in this months
issue of AutoTrend.

The cars were (in no particular order) Viper GTS, Shelby Series 1
(supercharged), Ferrari 550, Porsche Turbo, Pontiac Firehawk,
Corvette Z06, Mustang Cobra R, BMW Z8 and Qvale Mangusta.

After watching this, I am glad the Mangusta is not being sold under
the DeTomaso name, as it was completely overwhelmed by all the other
cars on the test.

There were some suprises in the test, namely that the Ferrari had the
shortest 0-100-0 time, but fared poorly in the 0-1 mile drag race.
That car must have awesome brakes.  Also, the Viper performed
quite well in the slalom, though the driver did remark that "It can
bite!".

Its a pity AutoTrend did not extend the test to include the Acura NSX,
making it a Euro-Japan-USA shootout.
