On SCCA racecars the kill switch is an actual switch not a lanyard. (It is
meant to be used by the corner workers not the driver.)
Back when I was racing, the switches were either located on the fender next
to the windshield or in the very back near where the trunk latch was
located.
I think most mechanics picked whatever location required the least amount of
extra battery cable.

hp,
where would be the best place to run a kill switch to on a pantera? is
the kill switch for scca a type that is manually switched or is it some sort
of lanyard type that pulls out like a boat or jet ski?
thanks, jeff
