The Pantera raced The Orient Express to a crossing in typical Hollywood
fashion. The car used was club President and Founder Phil Stebbings red GT5,
licence plate 500 FAB, which incidentally was converted from one of only two
V-6 Panteras ever built (Pantera 290), a Ford-engineered experiment using a
Capri V-6 in place of our beloved 351 Cleveland (for fuel economy--perhaps
thinking along the lines of the Ferrari Dino?)
Thankfully, THAT incredibly stupid idea didn't catch on! Phil's car
ultimately had the most radical motor in the UK club, with over 500
no-kidding horsepower. It's since traded hands several times but it's still
running around the UK.
