Subject:Long Throw Clutch Slave

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the long throw clutch slaves. 
 I've gotten the impression that they are preferred over normal throw slaves. 
 I assume there is an increase in pedal effort to go with the decrease in 
hydraulic leverage but is it highly noticeable to your left leg.  I'm running a 
McLeod 'long' style pressure plate and as far as I know a stock clutch master 
and slave.
