Subject:Rear Main Seal Question Answered - Thanks all!
Date: Tue, 5 Dec 2000 14:46:56 -0500

I can't thank all of you enough for the great information on the Rear Main Seal. I think a number of the responses came directly to me rather than back to the list.

In short, I was replacing my rear main seal and had a question on which way the rear main seal should go. The seal has a sloping face and I was wondering which direction this slope should go - either towards the Transaxle or towards the front of the engine.

The answer - The high point of the slope should be go towards the front of the engine with the seal sloping off towards the flywheel.

I though I would post this to thank you all and to have an answer available to any future person who has this question. Thanks again and I am amazed at the wealth of the information out there in Pantera Land.
