Can anyone put all of this (high volume/pressure oil pumps) into the context 
of oil restrictor kits. I'm planning to run solid roller lifters and a 
restrictor kit that includes a restriction in the passage to the left-side 
lifter gallery. 

With the restrictors, and a 7000 RPM red line, is a high volume pump a 
massive over kill? And does the bearing clearance make a difference? I 
thought racing engines ran greater clearances than street engines (at least 
when rebuilt). If that's correct, the way the engine is built would also 
impact the oil pump volume and pressure requirements. I guess running an oil 
cooler is also a parameter.  So I have the following variables:

oil restrictor (cam bearings only)
oil restrictor (cam bearings and left lifter gallery)
red line?
street or racing bearing clearances
oil cooler (pressure drop)

I'd guess the correct answer is a function of all of these, and maybe 
additional parameters.
