Bought a bone stock '72-L #4372 with 19,500 mi. a few months ago. =
While waiting for the license and insurance I installed a new carb and =
intake (Edelbrock performer now for sale). On the road and nine miles =
later BOOM!, I'm in the middle of town sitting in my new baby surrounded =
by a huge pool of oil and coolant leaking from a hole in the pan =
(sprayed on the header too, lots of smoke to go with the boom). My wife =
was less than thrilled with the initial purchase but wanted me to be =
happy, wife not concerned with my happiness anymore.
That's the bad news. The good news is (beside the fact my wife =
still "kinda" loves me) is I purchased a Ford Motorsports 351w (385 hp) =
to make my baby run again. I've already purchased new headers, water =
pump and timing chain cover. Also purchased an eccentric (what the hay, =
I've got the cover off) but intend to use an electric pump (Holly red). =
Bought a CenterForce clutch and flywheel (darn, this is getting =
expensive!) and a fancy wheelhouse brace, Deist five point, rotary AC, =
stainless firewall & fuel tank cover, stainless long throw clutch slave =
(Help!, I can't stop!), braided lines, etc.
Oh, my question? Sorry, I do get carried away sometimes.
Has anyone of of you installed one of these engines? Got any tips?
Thanks,
Mark Houde
