Try asking your local driveline shop. You never know. Dan.

Subject: Re: u-joint snap rings

     Mark,

The rings come in different thicknesses, keep asking around for them.
I removed my joints due to excessive play only to find incorrect
thickness snap rings to cause it all. Grinding them down doesn't seem
a practical solution, but with the right equipment perhaps... I also
had to buy new rings like you as the ones that came with the joints
were too thick as you describe. Note that unless they're all the same
thickness you get unbalance in your drive shafts!

     Tomas

Friends,

I am replacing my u-joints and while the new snap rings will fit =
the grooves the thickness is too great to install the rings on both =
sides. My old rings were thinner but many are not fit for reuse. =
Grinding these snap rings to the proper thickness is a chore and next to =
impossible to get an even surface with a grinder (plus there are 16 of =
'em). Where would I find thinner snap rings? Is there a way to grind =
them evenly?
